Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the New Stamford
Community Health Center
A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house was held on
Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
at the new Stamford Community Health Center located at
805 Atlantic Street. The event was attended
by Congressman Chris Shays, Lieutenant Governor Michael
Fedele, Mayor Malloy, and members of the Stamford area,
State Delegation, State Officials, Optimus Board and
Staff as well as community partners.
The $3.6 million building was recently constructed by
Viking Construction and was designed by Stein Troost
Architects. This site consolidates operations from
Chester Addison (245 Selleck Street) and Lathon Wilder
Community Center (137 Henry Street).
Funding was made possible by bonding from the State
Department of Social Services $1.5 million and State
Department of Health $300,000, City of Stamford $50,000
with the balance coming from a construction loan.
Comprehensive medical primary care and behavioral health
services will be offered at the new Atlantic Street site
with possible dental services planned for the future.
More than 25,000 medical visits will be provided in the
first year of operation. This is the second large
Optimus run health center in Stamford, the other being
at 1351 Washington Boulevard in partnership with
Stamford Hospital.
